Silence the Horns is a citizen-led project
working to address a relatively new form
of noise pollution that affects communities.
The goal is to eliminate non-emergency
honking at its source, the primary targets
being horn sounds used for remote locking
and vehicle location. The project goal aligns
with automakersí environmental policies.

Silence the Horns challenges automakers to incorporate consideration of the community impact of preventable noise in current and future vehicles. We are working toward achieving this goal through research, education, and advocacy.

Noise matters. All vehicles can be designed to function without using horn sounds for acoustic alerts, adversely affecting individuals and communities.
